The National U-20 team of Ghana, Black Satellites are geared up for a challenge to finish on top of Group C in the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania.
The Black Satellites are currently on top of Group C with 4 points plus 4 goals, immediately followed by Morocco who have 4 points plus 1 goal.
Gambia and Tanzania follow up in the third and fourth spot respectively with one point each.
The Satellites are primed up to face their Gambia opponents later tonight at the Stade Municipal de Nouadhibou in the last group games with the hope of sealing a qualification and finishing first.
Speaking ahead of the game, captain of the Satellites, Afriyie Barnieh mentioned the team’s excitement on the return of Sampson Agyapong after suffering an injury in the goalless draw with Morocco.
“We were a bit down after the game against Morocco because we wanted to win and also considering what happened to our brother Sampson. But the technical team took a good decision to take us out to the beach to refresh our minds and prepare us psychologically for Monday’s game. Now the spirit is high in our camp.”
“We are assuring all Ghanaians that by the end of the day we will fight to secure all three points and finish on top of the group”, the Hearts of Oak striker stated.
The game is expected to kick off at 7pm, same time as the other Group C game between Morocco and Tanzania.
Should Ghana finish on top of the group, it will face either the third placed team in Group A or B.
