Ashanti Gold have parted ways their Serbian coach Milovan Cirkovic after three months of being in charge of the club.
According to sources close to the club, the Serbian international was called up to a meeting by the club’s President, Dr. Kwaku Frimpong earlier today which ended in an amicable departure.
It will be recalled that, Sportsnetgh had reported earlier that he wanted to leave the club due to health reasons.
As quoted by Oyerepa FM, the Serbian had not been well for a while now.
“My health is not the best and I have to leave. It’s not true that I am running away from any challenges, I am not fit.
“I wish Ashantigold all the best in their future endeavors.
“I wanted to stay longer but that’s not the case.The supporters, players and management I wish them well.”
Cirkovic who is a UEFA License ‘A’ holder was appointed late last year following the departure of Italian gaffer Roberto Landi in 2020.
Cirkovic joined Ashantigold ahead of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season but the Serbian gaffer is reported to be unhappy and has left the club due to personal reasons.
He worked as assistant coach of Thailand from September 2017 to January 2019 and also assistant manager of Serbian side Borak Cacak from January 2008 to September 2017.
Ashanti Gold comfortably sit 7th on the league log with 21 points.
As the Miners search for a substantive coach, assistant coach Thomas Duah will play a stop gap role in their game against Dreams Fc on Thursday.
