The renovation works of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is expected to be completed by the end of March.
This is according to theDirector General of the National Sports Authority, Professor Peter Twumasi.
The facility has been out of use since February 2020 due to the renovation works and has since forced Kumasi Asante Kotoko to play their home games in Accra.
The Porcupine Warriors as a result of the renovation works has moved their home games to the Accra Sports Stadium.
Meanwhile there is been talks between the management of Kumasi led by CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah and the NSA for the work to be done quickly.
However in an interview with Accra based radio based outlet, Happy FM disclosed that the completion of the renovation by the NSA is by the end of March.
“We are hoping by the end of March the job will be completed and handed over to the NSA.”
“The major problem was the pitch and that has been worked on. Since 2007 no renovation work has been done but now it has been done. The pitch has been rolled out and we are waiting for the grass to grow and get better. The seats have all been put in place, the floodlights, scoreboard, tartans tracks are all ready”.
“The contract was a one-year contract and we are hoping by March ending the contractor should be done. We are pleading with Kotoko to be patient with us. The work will be completed soon”, he added.
The Baba Yara Sports Stadium is 40,528 capacity.
