Two Referees Receives Season Ban From Officiating

The Match Review Panel of the Ghana Football Association,  GFA has issued a season long ban on two referees in the  Division One.

The two Referees, including the centre referee, A.F Zakari and his assistant were accused of disallowing a goal in the game between Wassaman FC and Star Madrid.

The complaint was made by Wassaman FC who accused the referees for disallowing a goal which resulted in the abrupt end of the match.

In a published release on the FA’s official website, the Match Review Panel ruled that the referee should have allowed the goal to stand.

The Panel further ruled that Referee Zakari’s assistant contributed to the disallowance of the goal.

It will be recalled that there were some violent actions by fans who attended the match which saw some players and team officials get injured after the goal was disallowed.

Read Full Statement Of The Ruling:

Wassaman FC complained about a Referee Isaac Bassaw and Assistant Referee One, A.F. Zakari’s decision to disallow a goal they scored which resulted in the abrupt end of the match.

Per the video watched, the Committee found that the decision of the referee was wrong and Wassaman should have been credited with the goal.

The Committee also found that the performance of the referee and his Assistant One contributed a great deal of negativity in the game which finally resulted in the abrupt end of the match.

Consequently, the Match Review Panel therefore takes the following decisions:

Referee Isaac Bassaw and Assistant Referee are hereby banned from officiating for the rest of the league season.
