Joseph Ayitey Mensah – General Secretary of the Referees Association of Ghana has said their outfit has become impotent under the current administration of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
According to Ayitey Mensah the FA has made RAG redundant now because they are in charge of training and appointing referees.
He said the FA described RAG as a welfare body so “we are doing our welfare job”.
In an interview with Vision FM, he said GFA told us (RAG) that due to Charles Bulu’s collapse in Ivory Coast and Ethiopia during the AFCON qualifier, FIFA now requests for all medical report of referees.
He said it is the reason they have been ordered to have the ECG test at the 37 Military Hospital.
Ayitey Mensah added that they used to pay GHC 50 at local hospitals but the new directives has put financial burden on them as they are required to pay GHc150 at the 37 Military Hospital.
He added that, they had to bear the cost involved including their transportation to Accra as the GFA said there is no money for the exercise.
