Autonomous will raise the value of Ghana League – Shehu Dikko

The chairman of the League Management Company responsible for the management of Nigerian Professional Football League, Shehu Dikko, has expressed his admiration and support for the Ghana Football Association making the Ghana Premier League go autonomous.

The Ghana Football Association has announced that soon the Ghana Premier League will be granted autonomous. A five-member committee is set to be announced to lead the process. Three members from the 18 Premier League clubs and two from the FA. This will make the Ghana League independent on its own.

The Nigerian Premier League became autonomous in 2012 where it was renamed Nigerian Professional Football League. In 2014, Shehu Dikko, was appointed Chairman of the LMC and was reappointed last year to continue his good work for the league.

”I am very glad Ghana FA has decided to go for an autonomous league. Surprisingly, Ghana has not done this for all these years because Ghana has been pacesetters in the game so very shocking you have not done this all this while. But good that your FA has finally done this. It will raise the value of the Ghana league.” He told Angel Sports.

An autonomous league has a lot of benefits including assisting the FA to take care of referees and match officials. This he said the LMC has been doing to help the NFF.

”The League Management Company in Nigeria always give 5% out of each sponsorship to the FA to take care of the referees and match officials. Every top football league in the world is run independently and comes with a lot of benefits. For instance, we have a platform World League Forum that consists of League Chairmen across the globe that shares ideas and offer exchange programs.” He added.
