Tokyo 2020: “African Governments Must Invest In Sports” –Nadia Eke

    Ghana’s triple jumper, Nadia Eke has said Africa governments must invest heavily in sports to realise the full potential of the industry.

    She said there is a need to create a culture to understand sports business to help Africans to develop.

    Eke also expressed excitement for making her first appearance at the Olympic Game, after participation in other major events.

    Eke said this will be her first Olympic Games and she was happy to have realized that the dream of making Olympic participation.

    She however hopes to use sports as a tool to changed lives.

    “I want to use sports to change lives. Helping disabled people to have equal opportunities,” she said.

    Eke, who was Ghana’s flagbearer at the opening ceremony would go into the competition a personal best of (outdoor) 14.33 meters, (indoor) 13.60 meters in her event.

    The Holy Child Senior High and the Columbia University graduate competed at the African Championship, Commonwealth Games, and World Athletics Continental Cup.

    She has also competed in the World Athletics Challenge Meeting, Ivy League Championships, NCAA Indoor Championships, Auburn War Eagle Invitational, and Indoor Metropolitan Championship.
